Re: numbers down?
Attendance at National Conventions is (and always has been) directly related to the number of members within the geographic area where the meet is held. Membership in a geographic region is directly related to population density.
Put another way -- when we hold the meet in a populated area there are more cars to judge and more members in attendance.Terry- Top

Steve-----
I believe that Boston is 2007.
Also, there are LOTS of activities that one can avail themselves of at the national convention besides having a car involved in judging. I didn't have a car in judging at Park City and, as a matter of fact, I didn't even bring one of my Corvettes there, at all. Yet, I wasn't bored for a moment and thoroughly enjoyed my 4 days there.
There are many social activities which are part of the convention and there are also many educational activities, as well. So, there are lots of things to do. Park City was an absolute delight. I'm sure that Kenner, LA and Boston will be, too.
A Corvette gathering does not need to be a "full immersion in Corvettes" sort of thing. In fact, such an event might be no fun, at all. Each of the major Corvette events, including the NCRS National Convention, has a character all its own and completely different from each other. One needs to learn to appreciate each event for its own unique qualities and offerings.
The National Convention is a GREAT place to take a spouse, guest or companion. I took Sara to Park City and she enjoyed it immensely. However, I don't think that she'd enjoy very much a trip to Carlisle or Bloomington. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: numbers down?
Last time we had a convention in Boston, there was a significant amount of activity based on the historical sites in and around the city. I got there a day early, and went whale watching there was never a day without non-Judging related activities, and I would expect 2007 to be even better.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Very well put Joe! This was my second National Convention, (first 1984) and I enjoyed it immensely. It was a great chance to see a new locale, interface with chapter members, see great cars and meet neat people (like Dick Guldstrand, Dave McClennan and Al Grenning to name a few).
I plan to start going more often than every 20 years and know I will enjoy them as much as the latest.

Re: numbers down? PS
The NCRS BoD (Board of Directors) doesn't work beyond 2-3 years out... After Boston in 2007, the natural course of events would be to rotate the National Convention back to the US West and various chapters will be submitting proposals to host the 2009 event. Expect to hear the results of BoD selection sometime after their traditional 1Q, 2006 meeting.- Top

I'm looking forward to Louisana...the food alone will be worth the trip. Come on down, Steve, New Orleans (Kenner is a bedroom community) was a multi-cultural mixing pot with a history for having a good time long, long before it was trendy.- Top
