well there were 80 cars that had the L-88, an 18,630 converibles made that year. an there was 9,936 coupes made that year. I would think out of the L-88 cars there should be a good # of them convetibles. how many some one else will maybe know the #

It seems like most of the racing pictures of the day were showing convertibles with the hartdtop installed. Probably ordered as hardtop only cars for a lower center of gravity than the coupes.

I believe more convertibles were used for racing with the L-88 than coupes were, just for ease of roll bar installation as well as center of gravity.

Hello Orjan, I have been doing research on 1968 L-88 Corvettes. Please read user my profile. Do you own one or know know of any others? If so post some information of the Corvette. The VIN, engine stamping, rear axle, paint and trim.
          Thank you,

I believe the number of racing convertibles was strongly influenced by the fact that you couldn't get the hardtop until well after 1968 started. Review the archives for information from Mr. Hinckley about why this was the case.

              Hi Drew,

I know a 68 convertible in Switzerland with an original IT-stamped block under the hood. But the heads are cast iron. The car wasn't driven for years. The block looks very original for my opinion.

The car is for sale and the owner told me about a price of $25.000 - §30.000.
He and his brother own 5 big block C3s.

              Greetings from Germany
