It's an "oldie", that's for sure. GM #1116535 was the original ignition switch used for 1957 Chevrolet passenger cars. It was discontinued from SERVICE on August 1, 1958 and replaced by GM #1116547.
Joe, thanks for your help with this part number and also with the application for the chrome fuel line tee. I knew about the number change on the ignition switch to the #1116547, which fits '58-'59 Vette. I was curious whether or not the #535 switch might have an OEM Corvette usage. Apparently it does not.
Yes, the 1116547 switch is applicable to 1958-59 Corvette as well as SERVICE replacement for 1957 passenger car. Those are the only applications that I can find for it. Whether, or not, the 1116535 could be used for a 1958-59 Corvette application, I do not know. The "rearward" compatibility of the 1116547 for the 1957 passenger car application does not, necessarily, mean that there exists "forward" compatibility of the 1116535, which was never used for a Corvette application, with 1116547 applications. An implication could be drawn that such functional compatibility exists and I strongly suspect that it does, but there's no guarantee of that.
