Re: Corvette owner pins
Ralph,
I believe it started in 1957 with the Welcome Kits and came with all Owners Kits from 1958 until 1966. In 1967 Chevrolet decided to end the pin "give away". As far as I know all the owners pins were the same. They were 10K gold.- Top

Re: Corvette owner pins/Owners Kit
Don,
As a clarification Owners Kits started in 1958. The 1957 kits were called "Welcome Kits" and they were similiar to Owners kit that began in 58. To my knowledge there were no kits in 1956. Interestingly the 57 kit I have in my collection was issued to a 56 owner but had a 57 date on the letter. It seems that if a 56 original owner spoke up, Chevrolet may have sent him/her a 57 kit.- Top

Re: Corvette owner pins
Dave, The pins widely accepted as those included in the Owner's Kits had "10KDP" stamped on the back. I've seen others stamped "GBM&CO 10K". I was told by someone very knowledgeable about these Kits that the pins stamped "GBM&CO" were those ordered directly from the Gordon B. Miller Company, the official supplier of Corvette gifts and accessories. What do you think? Jim - Member #2978- Top

Re: Corvette owner pins
Jim,
I was not aware that there were two different jewelers markings used. However, I'm sure you are right and your theory could very well be true. I always thought that Gordon B. Miller supplied all the Corvette "jewelry" and all the Owners pins were the same. As we all know, we should assume nothing in the world of Corvettes. Seems you have found another new question that needs to be verified. I'll begin to ask some questions of people more qualified than I and report back if I learn anything.- Top

Re: Corvette owner pins
John,
I didn't know you bought a new 65? And you still have the original card and pin! That's excellent.
I have a few pic's of the card and pin from another 65 but the pin looks slightly different as far as paint config. I'll try to find it.- Top

Funny Story
In 1965 when I was 18, a friend who worked at a car lot knew I was a Corvette fan and gave me the owner's manual from a used Corvette. I mailed the Owner Kit order card in with the VIN and key number from another friend's '57 and received the pin, patch, ID card and Corvette News subcription within a couple of weeks. I wore the pin in the lapel of my favorite sport coat for the next couple of years even though I wouldn't own a Corvette for another decade. I still have the pin and I still wear it.- Top

Re: No key # on Owner Card prior to 1966?
Dave,
I'm pretty sure the key # started to appear on the owners card before the 66 model year.- Top

Re: No key # on Owner Card prior to 1966?
Dave,
From at least 1965 VIN 11147, they had the key # on the card. I'll try to find/post shortly.- Top

Original 65 Owners Card
David,
This is probably one of the nicest, most original owners packets on the planet. I don't believe the card has ever been removed from it's paper backing. Genuine all the way. That means that some time between John Hinckley's build and this build, the key # was added to the card.
