My 68 Coupe was returned home today by the body shop with a nice new factory original LeMans blue paint job. I started this restoration in August of 1997 (bought the car in 1972) and I have been waiting a long time for this day. Has been in the paint shop since March 24 of this year.
It's Christmas at my house today, and I am a happy 58 year old child.

I have been in the garage since the car was delivered.
Prior to sending it for painting I had completely restored and detailed the engine compartment, frame, and suspension so I am now re-cleaning everything of the dust from the painting process. Have ArmorAll'd the tires and cleaned everything in the engine bay already. I will be in the garage all of my waking hours for the next few days as I have been looking forward to this for a long time. I want to get it perfectly clean before I begin the reassembly of marker lights, headlamps, bumpers and then need to install new interior carpeting. Looking forward to driving it next spring.

Jim,
I don't want to rush the reassembly and don't want to drive it until it is all together. I have the new tires waiting to be mounted but need to sandblast and paint the wheels argent silver first. Then need to reinstall front and rear lights, side markers, rear window weatherstrip and most important, all new carpeting. I think the carpeting will slow me down as I want to get a perfect fit.
I was able to get gas filler door, rear deck vent grilles, and windshield mouldings installed tonight. Also did a lot of cleaning to remove body shop dust. Don't want to rush and scratch something, so I am moving slowly. Also spending to much time just admiring the car whihc is slowing down the process.

The 2007 NCRS meeting is in Marlborough MA which is the adjacent town and the convention center is less than 8 miles from my home. I will be there as I have never yet had the opportunity to attend an NCRS event. NCRS is also doing something at the same location in 2006 accordign to the schedule of events in the recent Driveline
