C3 radiator paint finish?

73coupe.....does anyone know off hand whether the radiator is semi-flat or gloss black. (i hate to paint it at all, i just bought a new aluminum radiator and it is PURTY!) but i think it would stick out like a sore thumb with no paint.. thanks for any help on this, rick

gloss black for OEM, I dont know about those AM aluminum radiator. it wont judge good with that RAD so if you are making a nice street car just leave it,as you say PURTY.

thanks, i was thinking gloss black, actually this is one of the newer AM aluminum radiators that is physically very much like OEM, after painted i think it would be hard to detect. (at the local car shows) thanks again....rick

All 1973s originally used a copper brass radiator. So, what you're trying to duplicate is the black finish used on these radiators. I would not call this finish a full gloss black, at all. It was more of a semi-gloss, tending more toward the "semi" than to the "gloss".

once you run it some belive me it will be lower gloss!!!

Thta's true. However, they're not full gloss black when new. I have quite a few NOS Harrison radiators "in the box" [none for sale]. The copper brass types are definitely a semi-gloss black; they might even be considered a medium gloss black. The aluminum 3155316 and 3007436 are glossier, but they're definitely not a full gloss black.
