    C2 L79 Tach Cable

The Cable for my Tachometer on my 66 L 79 broke as I was driving to work today. I have some questions.
    1. Can just the inner cable be replaced.
    2. Where is the best source to buy the parts I need?
    3. Lastly, The cable started making noise at the distributor end. I continued to drive the car an additional 350 miles or so before it broke. Are there other parts associated with the tach cable that may now be damaged?
    Thanks,
    Frank

Frank I would not buy anything until you disconnect the tack cable at the distributor. Using a good thick steel putty knife or a tool like this to fit in the wide slot remove the tack gear and examine it. I suspect the gears will be broken. Lack of lubrication can cause this failure. If this is the problem you will need a new distributor shaft and tack gear.
