Has anyone shipped out there wiper motor for a resto.. If so, can you tell me how much it was and did they replate it or paint it? I did my 57 years ago and it worked out fine. This one on my 65 has a lot of sloppy paint and oxidation on the bare metal areas. Also, before I ship it or redo it myself I need to know if I have the right motor assy.. Here are the number on the motor bellhousing: 5044602 with ASS'Y below it. 180 degrees away, it has stamped 12 Volt Type G. The JG makes no mention of these markings. Thanks

I just recieved mine back from Virginia Vettes (Dick Baron)(spelling?). They did an excellant job.
They have three levels of restoration mainly differing in whether or not the plating is redone or the parts are painted.
I believe his advertised price is aroung 190.00 for the level III service.
My 66 wiper motor has the same stamping as you described.

Thanks Gary: I am going to Corvettes of Carlisle. Do these vendors offer show specials. I will at least save on the shipping if I take these parts with. Do you think the airport security will let me take a carry on with a wiper motor. It does have wires exposed. I will probably call these vendors up beforehand. The shipping might be cheap compared to the potential headache of going through security with car parts. ThanksComment

I just had the Motor for my '66 done by Steve Hack at Eastern Corvettes. He re-plated the parts that were plated originally. Motor came back looking new and was done when he said it would be. He does a great job and takes the time to answer any questions you might have.Comment

Virginia Vetts and Eastern (Steve Hack normally attend the show. I'd call in advance to see if they'll take your unit.
Don't know about the security issue; I'm still loosing clippers and files and the like when I travel

Steve has even taught restoration classes on the headlight and wiper motors at Bloomington in years past.....I took an advanced class from him once...great guy and very good. He runs Eastern Corvettes in Ohio.......CraigComment
