Below is a copy of the original application for Missouri Title back in 1964 when George and Marie 1st bought 1957 Corvette #4353. Black/Silver w/red interior, 245HP, 4-Spd, Hardtop, power soft top, courtesy lights, emergency brake light, window washer etc..

Notice the VIN # VE57S104353 on the document!

For those out there hunting down 57's..I am sure other 57 Corvettes are listed in some State Motor Vehicle Files with VIN's that start with V.

My 57 is registered with a "V" . The passenger cars had the V if equipped with a V8 and some Dealers added the V in front of the VIN of Vettes .

Bob..It would be interesting to know how many other 57's or other years were registered with a VIN starting with a V...added!

I suspect quite a few.

Anyone else out there with an original 57 owners card that was issued with a V VIN?

I know of one state that registered Corvettes starting with the letters CV.

No wonder paperwork is so hard to find!

I recently saw the second owners title to a 56 Vette. The vin # on that title started with a V. That second NC title was issued in 1979. Rob

Rob and Joe,

A friend of mine in California is trying to get his '56 resgistered in California and they won't work with him because his title starts with VE and his VIN starts with just E. He is trying to get others that have titles (especially older ones where the the V hasn't been dropped off) to provide him with either pictures or information that would allow him to show the authorities that indeed his is an original title.

Can we rally around him and see if we can provide him enough examples of VE titles that he can convince the authorities in CA to issue him registration? If so, email me off line and I hook you up with him. I know that he would be very greatful. Thanks guys!

I will be glad to help ..but if he has a valid title from another state..I don't see the problem...unless.. the police department does not understand...when matching the VIN tag and the title.

A letter from the existing title state should clear the path.

Joe, he is an internet friend who has been on this board and asked for help a few weeks ago. I don't know all of the particulars of his situation other than he respects the privacy aspect of what he is asking people to respond to.
