The BF Goodrich Radial T/A P215/65R15 currently on my 64 are good quality, but they rub when I make sharp turns and I don't particularly like the white lettering. I would like to replace them with a more classic looking tire with a 1" whitewall. What size should I be looking for that would fit the car better? Also, I am not interested in a vintage tire, the car is a driver and I need a quality current tire.

Re: New Tires for my 64
George-----
I would recommend using a 205-75-15 tire size. This is the modern tire size that most closely duplicates the basic size parameters of your original tires. This size does have a somewhat wider tread than your original, but I don't think that this will be a problem. As a matter of fact, I don't believe that you'll find ANY modern radial that will be close to the narrow tread width of the original.
As far as which manufacturer or model that will have a 1" whitewall width, I couldn't help you. You'd probably need to check them out. Usually, I haven't found the exact whitewall width in product literature which I've seen.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Agree with Joe. 205/75/R15 is the way to go. I run that size Michelin on my 63 with no problems. They make a 1 inch whitewall. I bought a set of 4 several years ago at "Price Club". Hope this helps. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight

Re: New Tires for my 64
George: The 205 certainly will work on your car and is a popular size. I believe the 195 is actually the closest to the original size. I had to remove the 205 because it rubbed my battery box on my big block tripower. I purchased a set of "classics" by Cooper from a local Goodyear dealer. The whitewall is about 3/4". The size looks much more stock than the 205 and is less stiff than the larger sizes. Good Luck.- Top
