I know that this question has been asked many times before but I was unable to locate the answers in the archives so here goes again....Who is the best in the business for "concourse" style chrome plating? Who is the best in the business for clock and gauge restoration?

Re: Chrome platers
I must agree with Steve. In the 8 year process of restoring my 68 I have read repeatedly about the less than perfect chrome that these cars left the factory with. When I had my bumpers rechromed, the chrome shop asked me about the quality of chrome I wanted and he was very quick to point out that GM did not use show chrome. He said he would be happy to give me show chrome as it was more expensive but said that it would not be correct so I opted to have them rechromed to what he called "Street Chrome".

Re: Chrome platers
Justin ----
Someone else will have to suggest platers. I used Martins of Philadelphia for a '54 expansion tank and it was beautiful!!!
The same question was asked about instrument restorers not long ago and Jim Weeks responded, "Roger Scott does first class work on instrument clusters and clocks at a fair price. The phone number I have for him is 561-627-9345." He did my '67 instruments that resulted exactly as I wished and at a very fair price.
Best regards,

Re: Chrome platers
Justin,
I agree with Steve and Kurt, but if you are still looking for concourse chrome, there are number of plating outfits that can produce concourse quality chrome plating. From personal experience I can recommend Advanced Plating in Nashville, TN 1-800-588-6686. I have also heard good things about Paul's Chrome Plating in Evans City, PA 1-800-245-8679. Good Luck! Re: Chrome platers
Justin,
Depending on the condition of your bumpers, if you don't specify how you want the inside of the them finished, you may receive them with rust still visible. I realize that originally the inside was not particularly well polished and/or plated, but some shops will not even remove any existing rust if you don't tell them to, with the explanation that it doesn't show anyway. Definately let them know before hand exactly what you expect inside and out.- Top

Re: Chrome platers
Can't help you with the chrome, but I can tell you to STAY AWAY from Corvette Specialties of Maryland for your guage rebuilding. They did some work for me. Over priced, slow and arrogant.- Top
