    Tom------

This is a "non-embossed" PF-25. However, I'd still say that it sold for a quite reasonable and fair price.

Would you risk using that filter?

        Brian-----

I have MANY of these old "white" AC filters, both the embossed and non-embossed style [none for sale]. I wouldn't even CONSIDER using ANY of them on a running engine. As far as I'm concerned, they're for show purposes and "historical reference" purposes ONLY.

that is just what I would do with them, Joe is right I would only have one for historical reference. I lost out on that one the most I went was 43$

Joe, I own one of these and I have used it on the judging field. Are you implying that they aren't good for every day use (not that I would)? Obviously, the newer filtering materials are better but, if this were your only choice, they would be satisfactory, wouldn't they?

              Joe,
I am going to express my ignorance here. How would you get through the judging operations check without running the engine. Or do you use a modern filter for operations and swap on that filter for the remainder of the judging?

Joe, does not have his cars judged. but that is what some people do, then they wash out the old filter when they get home. an put it on the shelf for the next meet. sounds like a lot of trouble to pick up a few lost points for a repop!

There's no swapping of components or 'maintenance' allowed once the car is on the judging field.

Not really. I've done it, and I also have a couple of repops on the shelf. I've even removed the white paint from the metal lip on the repops to make them look closer to a real one. I have also acquired a real one recently, and would use it for shows. There are times that you need to go for each and every point.

                      Gary-----

Mainly, my concern would be that the filter material might have deteriorated with age. In that case, the filter might ADD particles to the engine rather than remove them. Other than the deterioration issue, the media, itself, would present no real problems. Certainly, in the as-new condition it wasn't as effective as current filter media technology, but that's really no big deal, at all.

The other reason that I wouldn't use these old filters is that they're too valuable for show purposes to "consume" in everyday driving. That's especially true of the "embossed" variety.

Todays AC oil filter you can buy may loose all or most of the points and a $100. oil filter may be cheap points on the judging field. One thing for sure it will be full of oil if used on the judging field.I have a few I drained and put in zip lock bags. Lyle

I tracked these repops to Greenwood Chevrolet that sells them for $19.95 all day long...they got the white paint around the rim unlike originals.
