All:
WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO EDIT OUR POSTS! Here is another reason why:
On Sunday, July 31st, I responded to Dave Marshall's post of Saturday, July 30th, in which he requested information regarding linkages for his windshield wipers. Apparently, the second photo has caused a bit of confusion, and a clarification is in order.
The first photo, on very close examination, shows the motor to be in the "parked" position with its arm pointing to 3:00, right side arm @5:00, and left side arm @1:00. I agree that it is difficult to see without magnification. The second photo has caused the confusion because of the photo's angle, AND because the motor is no longer in the parked position; rather, it is 180* away from parked. At that point, I was testing the operation of the mechanism. I only included it because it revealed more of the mechanism. Regrettably, my "clarification" photo did more harm than good. However, if the linkage is installed as in the second photo, then a simple 180 degree rotation of the motor will orient the RS and LS arms correctly.
This points out how important it is to consider all aspects of a post before pressing the "POST MESSAGE" key, taking into account that folks can be confused by any ambiguity. In light of the fact that this forum has no provision for EDITTING A POST, I will try to be more careful in how I answer questions. I apologize profusely for any confusion that my inane photos have caused.
Dave Marshall, who is new to this forum, was kind enough to send me an email pointing out my "mistake", since he may have believed that I had incorrectly configured my car's linkage. That was very gracious and noble, and says much for his character. Here is his email to me, and my response:

Re: 1965 Windshield Wipers Picture
Joe,
I wondered if you saw the other responses indicating that the driver's arm points up and the passenger's arm points down approximately at the 5:00 position. Looks like a very nice job you are doing on you car. Thanks again for you info.
Dave Marshall
Dave:
Thanks for the reply. That picture was taken three years ago, and the car is long ago finished. Unfortunately, in the second photo, the motor is not in the "parked" position, and I only posted it for a more close-up view. One can plainly see that it is 180 degrees away from the "parked" position, and I was testing the operation of the mechanism at that point. It has apparently confused some people. If you look closely at the first photo, you will see that the drivers' side arm is at 1:00, and the pass. side is at 5:00 with the motor "parked" (motor's arm is at 3:00).
You have now learned why many folks complain about not being able to EDIT a post.
Good luck,
Joe
