    Re: headlights 70-72

I only use the car for shows, and demonstrations at school. It has the original T3s in it.
About five years ago I drove it to work for a "drive your Corvette to work" day. We started at 5AM, and I had to leave the house at 4AM. That was when I learned how poor the T3s are.

    Terry,

I would have thought that in 1970 you would have known that T3s were not good. As we get older our eye sight needs more light. that is alot of the reason T3s seem week now. I remember when I had my 79 corvette, an people would be so blinded by the then new Halogen lights from way down the road. much like the new lights do to me now.

I agree ageing has some to do with it, (maybe more than I am willing to admit) but the T3s are downright yellow next to the white halogens we have grown accustomed to. Not only are the T3s dim, but the yellow color does nothing to help light the way.

        Back in high school...

in Michigan one of my chum's brothers, commuting cross state to college, 'took out' a Great Dane one night by overdriving his T3 headlights! LOTS of front end damage... The 'solution' was to install 13V, GE, aircraft landing lights.

Hey, you could do a night time road tour in the autum and enjoy the colors of the leaves on the trees!!! Yep, those lamps were amazing, albeit unlawful as all getout...

Yep, those lamps put out some light. Run them for long and they will suck more amps than the wires can support. Melt down, but great while they last.
