I am installing "V" shields on my 67 L-79. The motormount is too wide. The mounts are the locking type for 67 and will not allow the shield to mount up. I went to a mount for a 69 Vette and it does not have the locking tab. This mount is thin and will allow the shield to fit. Why would a 67 have a locking tab and the 69 not have it? Is there any issues I would have running a 69 mount?? After all the original style 67 mount had no locking tabs... Thanks, Kurt

Re: C-2 Ignition lower shields not fitting
Kurt,
The mount that you have on your 67 sounds like the later replacement, interlocking design that arrived on the scene in late 1969. This style would not be correct for your 67, and you would not be able to use the original 67 style shields unless you modify them, as described in the original paperwork that came with new style mounts in 1970. (the recommended fix included the use of a hacksaw and I'm sure you don't want to do that if you have original 67 style "V" shields)
The only two options I can think of are, use the 1970 style reproduction shields that will work with the late style mounts, or, find/use the correct 67 style motor mount. If your car is a show car or weekend cruiser that wil not see hard use, I would have no problem using the original style mounts.- Top

Re: C-2 Ignition lower shields not fitting
Mike,
The 69 mount I tried is the non locking type and the shield fits fine. I thought the later mounts had the interlock tab, this does not. I think I will go with the 69 style mount, no cutting required.. I tried the mount on the frame and if fits fine. The mount I have is made by Anchor, P/N 2249. Anchor shows this to fit 69-82. It has no locks. P/N 2285 is for the 67 and it has locks. I think they have things mixed up... I went to Dr. Rebuild's web page and looked at the mounts they show, the 2285 looks just like the 69-82 style and the 2249 looks like the early 67 non locking type..
Like you said, for light used and judging I think the non-locking (2249)will do. Thanks, Kurt- Top

Re: C-2 Ignition lower shields not fitting
Kurt,
I agree, it sounds like their numbers are backwards. There was no such thing as a locking mount in Corvette until 1969. Sounds like the #2249 is what you need for your 67.
I've been terrorizing the community in old Corvettes for a lot of years (decades) an I've never had a problem with the early non safety style mounts.
