Yes, that's one of the differences in the reproductions----the configuration of the flutes is slightly different. That's because current oil filters, from which the reproductions are made, use a different flute design.
The flute design of AC oil filters has changed over the years. However, an AC fluted oil filter wrench designed for this OD filter will work for all them. On the other hand, the flute design used by other manufacturers, while similar, is often enough different that the AC wrench won't fit. I don't know what brand filters are used to make the reproductions but, if they're not AC (which they either aren't or soon won't be since the PF-25 is discontinued), then an AC filter wrench might not even work.
