I have 66 car, and a 66 Judging Guide, which won't help me find the numbers. Can some one tell me what numbers were used for 69 and 70 LT1 blocks? - Dave

Re: What are 69 & 70 LT1 block casting numbers?
Dave there was not a LT-1 engine for the 69 Corvette. The engine block number for the 70 LT-1 is 3870010. This same block number was used on the 1970 300 and 350 hp engines.- Top

Re: What are 69 & 70 LT1 block casting numbers?
Dave some more info on the 3970010 block casting. In Michael Antonick's Corvette Book this block casting number was used on all 350 cubic inch small blocks from 1969-1980. Someone out there may have the figures, but I wonder how many 3970010 blocks were cast?- Top

Re: What are 69 & 70 LT1 block casting numbers?
Thanks for the info. I was referring to the casting dates for the 1970 model year. I have a late 69 block for the 70 model year that I wanted to check on, but I couldn't find the info for an LT1 option. I really appreciate it. I read though three interchange manuals last night with no luck. - Dave- Top

Re: What are 69 & 70 LT1 block casting numbers?
Production of 1970 Corvettes began with a body build date (date on trim tag) of A05 = January 5.
Typical casting dates for 3970010 cylinder cases would have been in December = L for cars at the beginning of production.
As other posters have mentioned, there is no difference in the dating for any of the small block cylinder cases regardless of engine horsepower. They were all cast at Saginaw foundry and assembled at Flint.
