recently read that the springs for the headlight doors were color coded , i had seen some green on the springs when i was restoring the assembly and just thought that it was vynl wash overspray , then Chris sangerson had mentioned he thought they were orange and olive green . Anyone look to see what color thier original car has , i noticed one set of springs is a larger coil diameter than the other , can the members check please through the grill opening and call out color as to to diameter of coil and placement. Thanks

Re: 69 headlight door springs
Best I can tell on my 1970 is that the orange is the outer, larger diameter spring. I can not tell the color of the inner, smaller diameter spring, however. I too am interested in what folks with cars in better condition find. There is very little color left on mine, so some confirmation would be welcome.Terry- Top

Re: 69 headlight door springs
I believe the outer springs were installed during the paint process and the inner two added later. I have included a JPEG of a fairly low mile 69 we judged in SFO this past spring.
