    emergency brake

1979 no problem until now. Wife applied emergency brake not brake light stay on. Klick release, goes to bottom but light staying on. Any suggestions. Also sold 1980 8 months ago, got what I asked but when looking at adds, do not see many if any 80's. Did I miss something?

    Re: emergency brake

    Bob------

The dash brake warning light serves 2 functions on 1967-82 Corvettes. First, it shows if the parking brake is applied. Second, it indicates if there is a pressure imbalance in the braking system (possibly due to the failure of the front or rear brake hydraulic systems). In your case, the problem with the light appears to have begun after an application of the parking brake. Therefore, I would suspect the parking brake switch or connections thereto. This switch is located adjacent to the parking brake lever assembly. You will need to remove the console cover to get at it. If you need the switch, it's GM-discontinued, but available in reproduction.
