C2 Windshield Washers DONT squirt PANIC...

    C2 Windshield Washers DONT squirt PANIC...

    In prepping for the operations checks for a local NCRS on this weekend, I found my washers dont squirt although the wipers work fine. Nope...its not the rubber stuff. After four hours of troubleshooting it looks like the washer relay is not up to the task of pulling the release lever and thus engaging the pump.

    Anybody know of washer/wiper folks other than Corvette Spec. of MD.? He is out of town. NEED washer assembly!

    Any troubleshooting ideas or recs?

      Many of a time the squirters are crudded up. Make sure the blue washer flud has not crystalized in the bottom of the squirters.

          You have to provide more information. What is happening? Do you hear the washer solenoid click? What do you mean "it's not the rubber stuff"?

              Well...the wipers work fine. The washer pump does not engage even if jumped. After removeal and troubleshooting it appears the relay does not have enough pull to retrack the lever to engage the pump. Bottom line, the pump does not start.

              Thanks a ton guys....I am off to see Steve Hackel who is a local Chicago guy who restores motors/pumps. I will update the post. Hate to get that 25 point deduct for such a dumb item...

                  Jim,
                  Have you tried priming the pump? Put a hose on one of the pumps two discharge ports and suck on the hose while someone pushes the washer button.

                  Have you determined that pump's suction line is not plugged? That the suction line is below the level of fluid in the resevoir?

                      Heartfelt thanks to all! The relay was week, and PRIMING was definitely required. Had local guy (Steve hackel) help out who is a highly recommended source for wiper motor or headlight motors. (708-334-3778)
