63 Front Inner Fender Bonding Strips

My 63 has a replacement inner fender (shhhh! ;-). When it was installed many years ago they did not install the bonding strips at the very top (Right above the rear of the front tire and just above the expansion tank from the inside). Later models use a rubber weatherstripping there.

A: Are the strips available somewhere? I've checked several catalogs but could not find them.

B: Should I go to the trouble to make something up or should I just put the weatherstripping in there? I do plan to have the car judged. The drivers side is original and has the strips. I'd prefer to install them if I can get them or make something decent.

Several vendors have these. Try Shemershiems(spelling) in Evansville,IN

Corvette Image, Gresham OR. If you also need the front ones, note that they are different Early and Late. Look at your other side to determine which type.

I'm not sure but I think the early one's may not be bonded to the top surround. Check out the AIM.

Thanks for the heads-up but mines a late 63 (July) and the driver side is original and has the strips. Corvette Image had them in stock and are sending them out today. I'm ready to drop the engine back in but am going to wait until I clean up this mess that I'm going to make ;-)

Almost all, except maybe very early ones were not bonded to the upper surround. There was a non hardning seam sealer in that spot. The early and late BS were a different design. The early is almost U shaped and goes up and over the inner fender panel. The later is L shaped and goes up and backwards.
