C2 Medium Bright Blue Int color

    Hey everybody,

After screwing around for last 6 months trying to decide what to do about the reproduction door panels I bought from Al Knoch 9 years ago and just discovered they would not fit.......I brought my originals to Bloomington and talked with Dale from Al Knoch about reburbishing those. He said they could do so off they went. A month later I get them back and they were just stunning! They fit perfectly and look great, they even used the original cardboard backboard that has the date stamps on them. Only problem, they are the wrong color!! They are 100 shades too bright and even a color blind person would be able to tell they don't mnatch anything else. So, I returned to Al Knoch along with one of the panels purchased 9 years ago that IS the right color but WON'T fit. Just spoke with Dale and he said they changed the color to the brighter shade because of requests by the NCRS (against his better judgement) and now the only thing they can do is dye them. What is going on here? Can someone explain to me why all of a sudden the change and what about the 1000's of owners out there with the "Old" Medium Bright Blue interiors??? I am not a happy camper now, have $1000 invested in just the door panels which I don't even have yet and now they have to be dyed to attempt to make right@!?!?!

    Comments welcomed. Thanks

I wouldnt fret too much. The originals were dyed anyway, so it should be fairly easy to get a good vinyl dye and match the original color. If you got some to fit, consider yourself lucky.

      Wayne,
Thanks for your response. I didn't realize originals were dyed. And yes, I am very thankful these are my original panels and they fit fine, just hoping they get the color right now. I still don't understand why the NCRS guru's would request that drastic of a color change, my originals were in good condition other than some cracking and the color was not even close to the "New" bright blue....

Its funny that they claim to be listening to anyone reference what is correct. They have never been too concerned before when I tried to get them to do something right. I think the statement is a smoke screen. The colors have never really been correct, and the fit has been atrocious. Contact Auto color library . They should be able to mix the color in a vinyl dye by the original interior color code.
