Re: OUCH!
Is this the same "Andy Cannizzo" that also has a user profile on our beloved web site?
"Hello; I am 53 years old and live in new jersey. I have been involved with antique cars since 1968. My first collector car was a 1931 Model A Ford coupe. I got involved with restoring Model A's and Won the World Meet in Lake Geneva, Wisc. in 1988 as well as best of show at Hershey,PA. I then decided to switch into a newer type of auto, so I purchased a 1963 corvette coupe. I Love the "ART" of restoration and now restore corvette components for 63 corvettes and other Mid years."

Re: GF-90 on Ebay
Since it is impossible to see the original listing, I would reserve judgment on as to how he represented the part.
The guy is comming back after a year complaining! How stupid do you have to be not to realize that an original would not come in a current design box!

Re: GF-90 on Ebay
John------
I tend to agree. However, I think that the box in the picture is not the MOST current design GM box, but the "1 generation old" design box. Still, it's not the style box that an original would have been supplied in.
As you say, without seeing the original item description, it's hard to say to what degree, if at all, that it was misleading.
Beyond all this, though, is the fact that, from what I could see of the piece, it looked like a darn good reproduction with all of the "nuances" of detail of the original piece. If so, what does it matter that it's not an original? If it gets full judging points whereas other reproductions available might not, then what's the beef?
I suspect that if the piece had been an original GF-90 with ALL of the original nuances of detail of the original PRODUCTION-line filter, it would likely have sold for a lot more than $175. Even a year ago. For someone wanting a filter with more "correctness" than those otherwise available, I would think that it would be worth $175, or thereabouts. Personally, I think that it's foolish for anyone to pay such a price for a fuel filter just to get minor nuances of detail. But, if someone wants such a filter, I think this filter should give them just about what they're after and, likley, cost a lot less than an exact configuration original, assuming that such a piece could even be found, at all.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: GF-90 on Ebay
Joe,
That is my thoughts as well. It looks like a pretty good reproduction, and I think that it is well worth the price for someone who is chasing points. I'll bet there are a number of people who will take it off his hands for what he paid for it.
