I have a '57 w/ dual 4's 270 HP. Lately, I have had alot of problem with the carbs flooding. The fuel pressure if showing 6 to 6 1/2 lbs and going to 7 lbs whem reving the engine, I have been told that it should be less than 5 lbs.. My question is, is this the correct fuel pump (maybe FI only?) and if so, what is the correct fuel pressure for the Carter carbs? Any suggestions as to a solution to my problem would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: '57 Fuel Pump 4346
try lowering the float level 1/16" to 1/8" to allow for the volatility of gasoline these days. you can also drill a .015 diameter hole in the fuel pump valve plate to allow the excess pressure that builds up after shutting off the engine to bleed back to the input side of the pump- Top

Re: '57 Fuel Pump 4346
I've seen many posts here that say the WCFB is very sensitive to fuel pressure. Fuel pressure should be 4.0-4.5#. Correct? I know most other carbs like 4.5# unless in a racing application.
Also, is there a different fuel pump for FI engines? (number?) Maybe this car has a repair kit in it for FI.- Top
