Can someone please look at this ebay listing and tell me whether this fan clutch is the correct one for my '67 small block? I would sure appreciate it if someone would look and let me know. I can't tell, but I know that there are alot more knowledgeable people in here than me.
Fan clutch is generically correct with a caveat...we can't see the length of the shaft from the pictures to differentiate SB from BB! The fan itself uses 'mushroom' head rivets to hold the blades to the spider and this sets the timeframe for the fan as '60-65 since '66-67 fans used flat or 'button' headed rivets. Back to the fan clutch...
The face and case are correct for the alternate design Eaton unit used interchangeably on the assy line with the Schwitzer fan clutch. However, both mfgr's made two versions of their clutch; one for BB and one for SB. The SB version of the clutch had a shaft length of 1.8-inches while the BB version had a shorter shaft with a length of 1.5-inches.
You'd have to ask the seller to either measure the shaft length or send you a picture with a ruler in place. You're measuring from top of the 'seat' the fan's spider sits on to the surface of the fan clutch hub that bolts to the water pump....
Tony - With regards to the fan blade assembly, I'd like to suggest that it might be from a C60 car (Corvette, Chevelle, or Chevrolet) since the O.D of 17-1/2" if accurate would make it a BIG BLOCK fan blade assembly but then the rivets should be flat button heads. The fan blade assembly diameter for small blocks w/o C60 is 17-1/8" and as pointed out the rivets should be flat button heads also. '66 and '67 small blocks w/ C60 used an 18" diameter fan blade assembly w/ mushroom head rivets. Pete
