Seems as if my autobody men may have connected the heater hoses wrong they have the top hose coming from the back firewall to the expansion tank then to intake manifoil and the bottom hose running to the water pump is this correct?

Re: (CON'T) HEAT PROBLEM 66 VETT
Gary,
The larger 3/4" hose should run from the water pump to the "T" fitting at the expansion tank, then on to the heater core. The smaller 58" hose should run directly from the intake manifold fitting to the heater core.- Top

Re: (CON'T) HEAT PROBLEM 66 VETT
Thanks Micheal, lucky I didn't do serious damage to the engine they hooked the heater hoses up opposite of where they were supposed to be.....but I shouldn't talk too quickly once it heats up now I get a serious whistling noise that's not there or evident after initial startup but as it starts to heat it appears and gets louder the longer it runs or heats up. I changed the gasket under the carb and it's still there when it heats up so now I'm going to change the gasket that's under the adapter plate under that gasket. I just hope that's where the air leak is if not maybe the intake manifold gasket or ??? I don't want to go there.....Tried to spray WD40 around the area but didn't get any impact- Top

Re: (CON'T) HEAT PROBLEM 66 VETT
Gary,
As someone mentioned in a previous post, it's not uncommon for Holley carburetors to make a whistling sound at idle. (I'm assuming you have a Holley?) If the sound goes away with a slight increase in throttle opening, I would guess that's exactly what's happening. It's also common for this sound to come and go, for no apparent reason.
Is the overheating problem resolved?- Top

Re: (CON'T) HEAT PROBLEM 66 VETT
Yes, Heating issue has been resolved and looks like you can't switch the two heater hoses without serious heat issues for both car and driver. Can't believe the autobody guys did this but glad I found it before it did any serious long term damage. The noise has come and gone seems to gotten better since I lifted the carb then put it back down and tightened it up, I tried to lift the adaptor plate under the carb to replace the gasket under it and it seems to be stuck on with some type of liquid sealant/gasket material and since I had the wrong size gasket to go there anyway after trying to match up the hole pattern I decided to leave that alone for now. But the noise got much quieter when I put the carb. back in place.- Top
