C1: 3756519 block suffix codes and heads

I just aquired a pair of 283, 3756519 casing engines and am curious the applications:

Engine #1 Casting Date: L88, F408DB pad stamp, 375550 heads D29 & C269 dates

Engine #2 Casting Date: E149, F515C pad stamp

Both engines are almost all complete. Are these of value for restoring a '59 Corvette?

DB code is a 4bbl carb with automatic trans, the C code is a 2bbl engine with manual trans. Both could be used in one way or another for a '59 Corvette.

The fellow I aquired these from said that the "C" suffix engine had a forged crank. Is that true? Said one of the engines was for a "heavy duty" application. Which (if either) would that be?

all 283 cranks were forged, not to worry. Chevy did not use ANY cast cranks until the late 60's (350 CI)

Flint Engine made a run of production and service 283's in the fall of 1964 with cast nodular iron cranks, but none were used in Corvettes or catalogued as service replacements for Corvettes; the block castings were "scalloped" in the pan rail area to clear the larger counterweights on the cast crank.

Engine #2 would probably be easier to sell, as one could stamp one letter for the suffix for their application after the "C" for a manual transmission car.
