Re: blank tank sticker on ebay
I've never seen one of these, ever, and I've never read anything from GM that suggests that the sticker be replaced for any reason. I doubt it's authentic. Into the "highly unlikely" category with this one. Good repo idea tho......- Top

Re: blank tank sticker on ebay

I don't know whether it's an original sticker or a reproduction of some sort. However, either way it's really a moot point. There's absolutely no way that anyone is going to be able to "fill in the blanks" on this document and have it appear even remotely legitimate. So, for someone wanting a blank sticker as a "curiousity item", I suppose it's ok. For someone wanting to use it to "authenticate" a particular car, I'd say that it's useless.
One other thing to keep in mind: documents such as window stickers, tank stickers, etc were NEVER designed with "security features" to make them safe from "counterfeiting". They are quite ordinary paperwork. With the sort of copying technology available today, I would think that "accurately reproducing" these documents using a single original document would be child's play. I mean, passable currency can be made this way, so how difficult would it be to make a "perfect" reproduction of one of these documents? In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
