Clear coating the plastic lens's on our Corvettes, is not the correct way to go. Some aerosol sprays will actually cause damage to the plastic, making them unusable. The only proper remedie is to remove them, and buff them out in the same way stainless is buffed, but using the correct plastic buffs, and compound. When done properly, you can get them so clear, they become almost invisible.

Visit " Eastwood's " for the necessary products, and while your there, they also have cleaners, and surface protectors ( anti static ) in liquid form for plastic.

    Good luck

I've used Novus plastic polish with very good results. Used product #2 to remove mild scratches and followed up with product #1. Results were excellent.

A second for Novus. I did a radio lens a few weeks ago, it came out so clear it looked like nothing was in front of the dial.

Mequiars (the car wax folks) also make plastic polishing products aimed at repairing motorcycle helment bubble shields that works reasonably. The real problem is the labor to R&R the instrument cluster, disassemble it & remove the original lens'... Most simply opt to install a set of fresh repro lens once they've put that much labor into the job since a lens kit is pretty inexpensive from the catalog houses.

-------One could, as Jack as said also, just buy new ones from Long Island. That way if there is any crazing you dont have to worry about it getting worse and having to pull the cluster AGAIN at a later date. Just a thought..........Bill S
