Looks like the the original owner pushed a older year antenna maybe a 67 into the base of my 70 and I tried to pull it out after I loosened up the nut but it is jammed in there..Looks like I will have to cut it off and pull it through the bottom.. Any tips on replacing this base and antenna Thanks JACK

Re: C-3 1970 coupe antenna
Jack the true antenna piece disconnects from the antenna base above the body. The big nut around the base is removed and the antenna is removed from underneath. From what you have described, I don't know what you have, but it is not like my original owner 70 or 68 Corvettes. I haven't used my antenna in my 70 for years unless I am on the road. I leave it off so I can cover the car. The radio picks up the stations I want to hear without the antenna mast in place. You should also have a big aluminum shield under the body that the antenna base goes through.- Top

Jack------
If you cut the base off of the cable, then I believe that you'll have to replace the whole cable/base assembly. This is a 1 piece sort of thing and I don't think that the ends are available seperately. These cable assemblies are available in reproduction.
Part of the problem here is that, for years, GM has catalogued the wrong SERVICE antenna for 68-72 Corvettes. The antenna you got if you ordered the one shown in many catalogs was a telescoping-type unit that will NOT work with a Corvette base.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
