Jack, I use it on my 11.1 comp. c2 & it works. It is lead. I use 11/2 oz. to gal. Been using it for 2 years. This is only brand I use. I know people out there will disagree. It is tetroetyle with a touline base. Some one on driveline sells it same price as Kemco. Don

I believe your engine will run just fine on regular unleaded, that's what it was built for. If it was one of the last engines to 'need' premium, 92 -93 at the pump will be more than enough.

Using higher octane gas is a pure waste of money, but is the subject of many internet legends.

I have a 1970 350/350. It will hardly run at all on 87 octane pump gas. However, 92 or 93 octane pump gas is all it needs. This car has just over 100K miles and I believe that the engine has never been apart. Skip the high priced lead additive, premium gas costs enough.

Jack, I find it curious that some guys say that they need to run leaded or high octane gas in their L46. I have owned two '70s. The one I just sold had only 48k miles on it and ran very strong on 89 octane! I kept the timing at 10 advanced and NEVER had issues with "dieseling". Good luck,Tim

Us e to use real lead 2000 on my 70 L-46. Think its the same thing. 1 qt to a tank of sunoco ultra. My car loved it! Only thing besides a/v fuel that keep my car from pinging

I know Dennis. GM thinks so also. My 66 & 67 manuel states to use 101 octane. California has 91oct.max. I notice my cars preform better with lead. Thanks for coming to my rescue. We belong to a very select few who believe in lead. Don

                Confusion or gasoline rating systems

The octane rating system changed somewhere in the latter part of the 70s (at least in Canada) so that the old '101' rating mentioned in your owners manual is equivalent to a much lower value in today's system.

Corvettes built from 1970 (I think) were built to run on gasoline that is rated in today's system as 'regular' or 87-89 octane. If your particular engine has a demonstrated need for higher octane gas, then so be it.

I believe it is widely accepted that lead is not required in our motors to avoid valve recession and is certainly not the only way of raising octane levels to the needs of a particular engine.

The was a retailer here in Quebec that sold octane booster under the Obecalp brand, but the majority of users found that it made no difference.

Mike, an excellent article. It reinforces my use of tetra ethyl lead "supreme 130" to my hi/comp. BB C2s.
