    Help Identify Holley Carb

I am trying to identify the usage for the following Holley carb, which is also for sale:

    GM Part Number: 3849804
    Holley List Number: LIST 2818-1
    Date Code: 684

If I am reading the date code correctly, this carb was:

    6 - produced in 1966

8 - in the month of August

    4 - in the 4th week.

I thought that this carb would be suitable for an early 67 Vette, but several people have told me that all 67 327 engines used the Holley 3810 carb.

Can anyone determine the usage of this carb, from the GM Part Number?

    Thanks

Holley List 2818 / 2818-1 (65 ) used with L76 and L79 SHPs in 64 and 65 model years. Agree with your date calcuation, makes it a service-replacement carb, as none such installed on 66 model year cars. (note that Holley moved to a four digit julian date code in 72 so this would have to be a 1966)

as for the "people have told me that all 67 327 engines used the Holley 3810 carb" I thought it was either Holley 3810 or 3814 if air injection was present, but I am not deep into 67 specs.

Jack - you are correct. my 67 L79 coupe has a 3814. Only the CA A.I.R. cars got the 3814......there are differences in the baseplate (includes a connetor for the A.I.R. etc. I am sure there are other differences in the metering blocks and jets etc. Craig

Right, the 3814 was used on 67 327s with AIR. The 3810 and 3814 were 4160's with only a secondary metering plate, and non-externally adjustible fuel bowls.
The 2818 is a 4150 with a secondary metering block.

Not sure of the choke or the fuel inlet, but a 2818 could be made to work on a 67, if one is not looking for gas mileage, or correctness. I had a 4776 double pumper on my 67 327/300 for many years.

Jerry - on the choke - the 2818 had a completely different choke setup with hot air tube connection vs the bimetal coil divorced choke on the 3810/3814.....it won't match up to a 490 intake and needs a 461......Craig

Only difference is in the baseplate and metering block. Jets and all other parts are the same. May have a difference in vent sizes in the main body.

Hey Craig, this is almost like talking on line. Good point about the choke.

64's used list 2818, not 2818-1 which was used for '65 SHP and service. I'm into my fourth year of looking for a correctly dated 2818. Maybe next Friday at Carlisle I'll get lucky.
