I have a 1960 driver with the 270HP engine. I would like to get a pair of correct carbs but since this is a driver I don't want to spend $2500.00 for a pair of restored carbs. Does anyone know if it is possible to locate carbs in working condition but not restored for show? thanks.

Re: WCFB dual carbs
These old Carter parts are getting quite scarce and 'cores' are quite dear to the handful doing restoration. If it's low cost you're after for your driver Corvette, it might be time to look at an alternative intake/carb setup and let those who are into serious factory concours restoration have at the original dual 4-Bbl parts....- Top

Re: WCFB dual carbs
I bought a set last year to go on my 61 driver for $900. They needed rebuilding, and the manifold took a while to clean up. I had to buy the air cleaner and linkage in addition, and probably have a total of $1200 invested. There is an advertisement appearing in "Corvette and Chevy Trader" every month which offers these setups in both show and street trim. You might ask the price of the "street" trim. Also, there are a lot of these advertised on eBay. If you are not too worried about correctness, the manifolds are fairly common swap meet items in the $200 range. You can use two ordinary WCFB's with a little modification, and only you (and a very few other people) would know the difference. You can simply remove the choke from the front carb, and the vent tubes are available as repos.
I would check eBay's completed auctions, and email the last two or three sellers and see if their setups actually sold. I know there was a set for sale in the last two weeks. They can be a bit of a pain, but they give the car character.- Top
