    Good Laugh #2: Blame NCRS

eBay dealer appears to be indirectly faulting our fine organization for the plethora of boat anchors out there.

"This is a big block car but not correct because the matching number big block cut loose and was replaced with a strong 400 remanufactured engine 2,500 miles ago. I know of a 65 BB engine with correct date code that may be acquired and restamped. I will not do it as there are now more BB cars than the factory ever made-thanks to NCRS. The numbers and document game is very, very good these days."

Just noticed, he claims it's a 65 but has a 66 VIN. Well, kinda sorta has a 66 VIN but has an extra character.

This is a really interesting combination of Corvettes. It appears to have a big block 66-67 style radiator but upon closer inspection, I believe it's actually a big block look alike radiator mounted, somehow, on a 65 core support. Look at the more vertical angle, typical of 63-65, not 66-67 big block. Also, it looks like a 63-65 fan shroud, which won't work with the 66-67 core support angle.

The hood support on a 66 big block would have been mounted on the left side, not the right side. Very early 66's had the left side support but if the VIN is accurate, it's not a late car. (pretty hard to tell though, with eight characters on the back half of the VIN instead of six. Right fender skirt looks like 66. Very confusing. No wonder the seller wasn't sure if he should list it a as a 65 or 66.

The hood emblem is the correct vertical letter 66 style but the rear deck emblem is the slanted letter 65.

Starting to look like that car in the Johnny Cash song. It's a 63-64-65-66-67

Some people shouldn't trust their eyes when their imagination is out of focus.
        That's a pretty good laugh.

and just where is this NCRS BB engine restamping facility, anyway??
