I have what I think is a pretty rare 67 Vette. A 427/400, factory A/C, A.I.R. smog, side pipes, shoulder harnesses, hardtop, redline tires. 1 of 76 according to Noland's book. A true driver right now, but I do have the original tank sticker and some owner history and it had never left the West Coast, sold in Oakland originally. I have owned the car twice after buying it back because I missed it. I have had a couple NCRS judges look at the car and tank sticker and agree the car is what it is. It is originally maroon which I like, but I am thinking of painting it 67 yellow which I love. My plans for the car are to keep it a driver, as I love to drive it and enjoy the talk at almost any stop, gas, Wal-Mart, ect. I am going to hold on to it for at least 10 years and hope the bubble does not burst before I retire (if I live long enough)!! I love to go to the NCRS meets and look at the top flight cars but I doubt I would ever have the cash to do a frame off plus the first sunny day in the garage I would go nuts. I do plan to buy parts right along to bring it up to a top notch driver. Now my question: Should I?? and how much would a color change hurt the value now and in 10 years or so given the fact that it will see sunshine and asphalt as much as possible and remain a driver. Thanks Larry

Re: 1967 color change advice on a 427 roadster
Larry - a very personal choice......but I would look at it like this.....since you are gong to drive it regularly, it is in driver condition, and if anyone really did want to flight judge it later it may need a frame off anyway....it would likely need that and paint in 10 years anyway. If the car is now a fairly accurate surviovor candidate I would NOT change the paint unless it is already a repaint anyway. Value? well, very subjective, but I would at least say it you could deduct say $10K for a paint job...... Craig- Top

Leave it the original color, cars that have been left alone are becoming rarer. If you want a yellow one I'll trade you my original Sunfire Yellow 67 A.I.R 300hp PG lived its whole life in the valley driver.

Re: 1967 color change advice on a 427 roadster
By the way Larry you don't have to do a frame off to Top flight. I forgot to mention my yellow car has Top flighted twice. From the sound of it you have a pretty original car and I'll bet you'd be surprised how well it could do, is the paint original? People always make the mistake in thinking that all the cars at an NCRS meet are frame off trailer queens, not true, some of the biggest crowds looking at a car are usually the most original example on the field warts and all.

Re: 1967 color change advice on a 427 roadster
Craig and Kevin, car has been repainted once, back to maroon, a lot of original parts on the car and some in the garage, ie, tri-power ( like 4 barrel performance for stop light to stop light and maintance), ect and missing some parts like radiator shroud. I am selling off some of my Corvette parts to finance some parts for the 67. Charles is right, paint is personal choice, but in this case as a driver I lean towards Charles idea,Yellow now and a frame off in later years, if the market warrant's it at that time. Wish I could afford a driver and a top flight car but my 'real' car would be a 67 BB AC roadster that could go survivor or close to it. My 67 truly is a grocery getter as we went to Kroger's today in it Thanks Larry- Top
