This is one of the big reasons I spend so much time on this forum. Where do
you folks come up with this stuff?

Does this picture make anyone else teary eyed?! What I wouldn't give to see
        that in person......

Steve..30 years ago..information was difficult to find...and there were few repro parts..then came NCRS and some really dedicated people...and now with boards like this..the access to information is improving dramatically.

I am constantly amazed at what is out there!

The more that people share the better.

            Joe,

I love these images you're posting.

Here's a request for you: I remember a thread here a couple of years ago
that was on the topic of engine orange overspray on the aluminum intake
manifold and cast iron exhaust manifolds. Someone chimmed-in about the use
of a vac-form that was placed over the intake while the heads were sprayed
with paint. As the vac-forms aged, they "peeled-back" a little and
this is why some engines had more overspray than others. Yes, I'm going to
            my request now.....

Would you possibly have a picture of this engine painting process depicting
the vac-form in use? Or, even a picture of one of these vac-forms. This has
been a topic of much interest to me over the years. Seems that someone is
always challenging the amount of overspray on an intake.

Steve..I don't recall seeing such a picture. I would need to ask around..and I will.

I know someone that worked at Tonawanda on the big blocks and someone who painted at St.Louis.. I will see what they say.

              Maybe Michael knows.

Got a date to go with that great photo of the Tonawanda big blocks?

                      Joe,
Those valve covers kind of look like chrome valve covers. That would make the engines 68-70 time frame.

Tony..it "looks" that way to me too..but the photo was taken in late 66 or maybe early 67..I suspect what appears to be chrome is actually shiny paint.

Maybe someone who has spent more time studying big blocks will see a telltale.

I wish the photo was clearer..but as a friend of mine says..if wishes were horses..we could all for for a ride.

                          Joe,

Any chance you could e-mail me a copy of the picture? Especially at higher resolution?
There's something I see on one of them I'd like to identify, but even by saving your posted copy and then enlarging, it's just too fuzzy.

                          Thanks,
