    Unstamped blocks

I just read the story of the 12 mi 1967 L88 at http://www.rogerscorvette.com/inv/sp...7L88/index.htm From the story -

"Also, they found and re-installed an accurately dated and never stamped L-88 block to replace the one from 1975"

What is the source of these blocks? I am guessing over the counter bare block. I would think that anything would be stamped with at least the HP and assembly date.

    Re: Unstamped blocks

Most service blocks were either short blocks or "fitted" blocks (or bare blocks), so the engine plant had no clue what their final configuration or application would be; unless they were specifically built for a "CE" application, most service block pads were blank.
