Need Info on Carburetor for 66

I just purchased my first corvette a 1966 L79 roadster.

Red with std. black interior, 4 sp. Posi.

Unfortunately like many others, the Carburetor and Alternator have been changed out and I would like to replace them with original numbered items.

The production date for the car is September 8, 1965 a relative early production car #905.

What was the correct Carburetor used on the early 1966 L79 motors?
Would any of you know where I can find a rebuildable carburetor and Alternator with correct date codes for my car. I would guess July-August 1965?

Also, I would guess that a 32 Amp Alternator would be correct since the car had no Power options.

Many thanks in advance, from a very happy first time C2 owner.

    North of 40,
L-79 (350 Hp) w/o Air Injection Reactor used a Holley R3367A carb. Cars with AIR used a Holley R3605A . The carb. was installed at St Louis so a date 6 months prceding your cars DOB would be Kosher.Sources for a correct Holley are Jerry Luck,
Craig Woodruff or Bob Kunz. All very good restorers of carbs. I dont have their phones # right now.

As far as your alternator goes since your car is not air or TI igntion equipted a
1100693 alternator is correct. This alternator is rated at 37 amps. Sources for a correct alternator are John Pirkle or Don Briggs.

Good Luck with your new C-2.

North of40, I'm in the same boat. I have '66 L79 #1649 and am desperately searching for a carb for the Waco Regional. My engine has a build date of 9-20-65. If I hear of anything, I'll let you know. Today I found a 694 (fourth week of Sept, 65), I believe that this is too late for my car and yours, also. The earliest I've heard of a 3367 being produced is July of '65. The 37 amp alternator is correct as in an earlier post.

          Early 3367 carbs

          Tim,

I've tracked some of the sales of 3367 carbs on e-bay for a few years and the earliest dated carb I've seen for auction is coded 585 or the 5th week of August, 1965. One source for original 3367 carbs is Chicago Corvette. They also have service dated 3367 carbs for several hundred dollars less. Ask for Alf.

You'd have better luck with a letter by mule train than trying to get Jerry Luck to answer an e-mail.

                Re: Early 3367 carbs

I visited with Chicago Corvette, they have to unit dated the fourth week of September, 1965. As my engine was assembled on 9-20-65, I thought this unit was a bit late for my engine. They were helpful. I know that the carburetors were installed in St. Louis and in theory the engine assembly and carburetor assembly could occur at the same time.

Try www.customrebuiltcarbs.com This is the guy alot of people send their carbs to and then middle man/jack up prices. I bought quite a few from him and does a nice job. Worth a try!
