C2 dash replacing and wiper motor

I recently found an unmolested radio delete dash to replace mine. It should be here in this week. As much as I hate to loose the kick a$$ 8-track, it has to go. I have emailed one member back and forth a few times; he acted like changing it out wasn't a big deal. Although I do not doubt him, I would like to hear some others advice as well.

This is the best time (with engine and dash out) to have the wiper motor refurb, right? Who does the best resto on the wiper motor?

Thank you guys so much. I wish I had joined before I ever bought a car. Bill #44207

Oh yeah one other thing. Does anyone have any close up pics of their heater under the dash/behind glove box? I think I saw some posted on here not too long ago. My heater has foam rubber between the heater and firewall. Is that normal? Thanks again

Bill, I use Steve Hack at Eastern Corvette in Ohio-lost his number but he does great work. YOu should be able to Google him.
There is a foam rubber gasket behind the heater box. Now is the time to replace it.
Also, the term is "no radio" not radio delete. Can't delete something that was not standard equipment. You could get "heater delete" but not radio.

I recently had my total dash out. It isn't that hard. Remove the seats for working room. Remove the center console. Remove the glove box and instrument panel. Remove the windshield trim mouldings Remove the bolts along the windshield that attach the dash to the cage. Remove the heater controls. Remove the radio (only need too if the dash is still attached to the floor in the center). Go behind the dash at the center & floor and slide a putty knife against the dash to break the glue free. There are typically 3 glue points at this location. They may already be broken due to age. Drill out the rivets at the door ends of the dash. It should now be free to remove from the car.

If you are restoring... now is the time to refurbish the wiper motor and arms. I welded the arms to the rotating pin that goes thru the cowl to tighten them up. They are swaged from the factory. Replace the insulation that is both glued and fastened on. Remove the wiring harness and clean it up. Replace all the light bulbs restore the instruments (take them apart and clean inside and repaint the backgrounds. If the faces need attention now is the time.....
And the list goes on and on...... I did all my own work, its time consuming but easy... just take your time. Everything will go back together!!! Restore the heater box. Possibly install a new core... easy now ... tough later!
      Good Luck
