Re: c2 windshield installation
The Service manual covers this pretty good. The weatherstrip is actually a gasket. Most all the vendors have them. Probably only one manu source.
Be careful removing the mouldings. Polish them before reinstalling.
Word of advice. Clean out the channel very carefully. Look for evidence of leaks and repair especially in the lower corners where the metal cage pieces overlap.
Replace the reveal moulding clips and use some sealant on the screws. The corner clips can be placed too far into the corner, resulting in a poor fit for the stainless piece. Photo that area before you remove the clips to get them back into the proper depth location.- Top

Re: c2 windshield installation
As a glass tech with about 20 C2 installations completed I can offer some advice but I don't know of a step by step instruction. Is this a coupe or convertible? There is a different gasket for each. I recommend bonding the glass to the gasket prior to installation using a urethane adhesive with a corresponding primer. This method has several advantages. 1-The gasket can't "pucker" up off the glass (especially in the lower corners). 2-The gasket/glass portion of the seal can't leak water. 3-It eliminates any of the bumpy, wavy, rollercoaster look of the gasket peeking out from under the moldings. I have also found it helpful to trim off the little "ridge" of rubber that runs around the body side of the gasket. This ridge contributes to that bumpy look of the gasket which results from it fitting so close to the molding clips. There are about a hundred other steps to getting the install "right and tight". Feel free to e-mail me.- Top

Re: c2 windshield installation
There's an article in the "The Corvette Restorer" that describes a step by step approach to replacing windshields. I beleive it is in the 1986 Winter edition, Volume 12, number 3. The article was written by Ricardo Landiera and I believe its title is "Do it yourself glass installation". Hope that helps. Let me know how it works out. I'm thinking of doing the same.
