    HARDTOP STORAGE

Other than making something, does anyone know of a kit or pre-made brackets meant for hanging a hardtop from a ceiling? I'd like to store my hardtop suspended from the ceiling in my garage to free up all the floor space.

I store my 68's hardtop in a spare upstairs bedroom. It has been in the same corner of the bedroom for 14 years.

Have you considerd one of the rope/pulley hoists for storing the top suspended in the garage?
        Best regards,

Rob, I bought brackets & dropped 2 4' 2x4s from the cieling joists and a 2x4 flat on the wall attached with lag bolts in studs. Also a 2x4 attached to the bottom the two 2x4s from the ceiling. Finally a piece of 1/2 plywood dropped in frame overlapping frame. My top now sits over the front of my car covered. You are basically building a narrow shelve. You can make it larger to also store parts. Job took 2 hours + $25 parts. Don

All the regular places sell those rope pulley things. At least they used to. Mines been hanging in one since we moved to this house 15 years ago. Sometimes I blow the dust off it with the air hose.

              Rob-

I got the fancy Fritzi hardtop hoist from Eckler's (see link) for the '62 hardtop and am pretty happy with it, I've got it lag screwed into the joists in the ceiling and I don't think it's going anywhere. Wasn't cheap, but I figured overkill was better than dropping a $3-4K hardtop onto concrete from 7 feet up......
