    Surge Tank

I was wondering if a 1966 427(425hp), late serial number Corvette, came with a surge tank for the radiator?

    Keith,

No 66 427 equipped cars left the factory with a surge tank. This would be a small block only part. It is possible that someone added the tank years ago though, as the 425 HP cars did run a bit hot at times.

A more appropriate description is "expansion tank".

Brass radiators have a built in expansion tank and fill port. Aluminum radiators do not, which is why they need a remote expansion tank with fill port. The only BBs that got aluminum radiators were L-78, L-88, and ZL-1.
