C2 Coil Capacitor

I just purchased a coil capacitor for my 65 327/300. It has a number at top (the end opposite of the wire) 1947452. It also has a large DR in the center of the same end and "3MF). Is this capacitor correct for my engine? And if it is not, which capacitor is correct?

I have read the judging manual and it does not specify a part number, only the color of the base of the capacitor.

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe the correct part number will be in your AIM under the U69 section at the back

Yes, it is listed in the AIM...#1960958. But the AIM on the same page specifies the correct capacitor for the Voltage Regulator is part number 1960957..The JM specifies that the correct capacitor for the Volatage Regulator is part number 1964086.
So there is an inconsistancy in what is listed in the AIM and what the JM considers correct.
My question remains...Is the capacitor that I have, part numbber 1947452 correct for the 65 327/300?. And if it is not correct, what is this capacitor correct for?

That cap fits a BB...on the coil.... at least in '67 and I suspect other years as well....
It should have a clamp strap around it for mounting.
The small block cap will have a flat mouting ear on its base for mounting.

Dwight, I can't tell you what is correct for your application but I can tell you that the 1947452 capactior was used on most, if not all, 1958-1962 Corvettes. They frequently sell on E-bay for $30 or more.

Dwight - The sb Corvette coil capacitor for radio cars is P/N 1960958 and was used on all radio equipped 1963-1967 Corvette sb cars with factory radio (U69). The bottom of the base piece attached to the bottom (opposite the wire end) end reads .3MF, D-R, and 1960958. The base piece end with the screw hole in it had 2 configurations I am aware of 1) a tear drop shape and 2) squared shape.

The P/N 1947452 is the U69 coil capacitor for 1966 (probably 1965s but my '65 Corvette AIM doesn't reference 396 equipped Corvettes) and up Corvette BB cars some later sb Corvettes and all kinds of sb and BB Chevrolet cars equipped w/ factory radio; but not 1963-1967 sb Corvettes (see above).

The P/N 1960957 capacitor was used on the regulator in 1963 per the '63 AIM and probably thru 1964 production because my '65 AIM shows P/N 1964086 for the voltage regulator and indicates a P/N change. The change from P/N 1960957 to P/N 1964086 occurred sometime in 1965 production according to the circled number 4 next to Item 2. 1964086 in the part number call out on UPC U69, Sheet A6 in my 1965 AIM (unfortunately the Revision Record in my 1965 AIM is unreadable so I can't give an authorization date). Apparently, your '65 Corvette AIM is an earlier edition if it shows P/N 1960957 for the voltage regulator capacitor.
