    1111069 DISTRIBUTOR APPLICATION

I removed a tach drive distributor from my '66 small block and installed a correct, original. The tag on it reads: 1111069 6K17. I would like to know its' correct application. I thought it was for a '65 365HP, but the date didn't seem right. Thanks...

'64-'65 L-76. Could be it was purchased through service parts, or maybe the tag is not original to the distributor.

The 069 has best spark advacne map Chevrolet ever produced for a hot small block with high compression and a big cam. As far as differentiating from other distributors for judging the only difference is the tag with the part number and date code, so if it worked well in your engine, the only thing you needed was a correct tag.

      Duke,

Is the difference between my 156 distributor and the 069, the weights, springs and vacuum advance, or is there more to it?

Also the autocam mechanism, which along with the weights and springs determines rate of advance and maximum centrifugal adance.

Of all the single point tach drive distributors these components that determined the spark advance map were essentially the only unique parts to each distributor part number.

          Probably a Service Unit

As Duke says. You can probably narrow down it's assembly by checking for the hole opposite the tach drive 9for anchoring the nylon button). If it's present, indicates a casting post-mid 1970.

I ordered an OTC 069 unit in late 1980 or '81; has an ident band with date 0D23, and the hole. So that narrows it down to probably April 23,1980 assembly.

I don't see the hole. The Band appears original, with the pink dye still present, of course, it doesn't mean it's the original band.
