Rob, when I thought my 72 wiper motor was toast, I purchased one from Advance Auto. It was correct in every way - function, connection, etc - and the only thing wrong with it was that it was blue. IIRC, the cost four years ago was around $75. This unit had the correct connections for the wiper door electrical connection too. As it turned out, my problem was a sticking switch, on the passenger side of the firewall that controls the wiper door. I cleaned that up and all was well. Wound up returning the motor. I had intended to use lacquer thinner and take the blue paint off.

      Thank you Gary
The reason for switching cases is to keep the original tag or sticker that the motor housing has on it even though you can hardly read it. When you get it damp and look at it from an angle you can read it.

Rob, again, trying to remember here, but I think Paragon has a very good repro of that sticker on your motor. I wouldn't discourage anyone from keeping their car original but sometimes the effort to do that may not be worth the end result.

While I was tinkering with my suspected wiper motor, I managed to erase about 30-40% of my wiper motor sticker. I chose to leave it in place.

        Just a thought.

My car already had the infamous blue replacement when I purchased it.

I took out the motor, stripped off the paint with paint stripper, and it looked great underneath. Wonderful!
