lack of adequate magnification in the photo disallows evaluation of broach marks.mike

I've been through this myself recently, and you can't get too many opinions or ask too many questions. I agree Something does look odd underneath the "0"s. Just my observation. If the actual owner is willing to answer questions directly, just come out and ask him if it has been "restamped". Sometines just the way they answer(or don't answer) that question can tell you quite a bit. Claiming that the car was bought from a reputable dealer means absolutely nothing in itself. Good luck...

Keith, I enlarged deck in my MGI photo program big time. Also darkened it. I can see two 2s under 0s & possibly a # under the 8.

            Re: Unusual deck on 67

Although, I was going to buy a 67 BB 2 years ago with a deck that was double stamped in 4 letters of VIN. It was plain as day. Did not try to hide it. Al Grenning inspected for seller & said it was correct! Great car but had P/G. So I passed. Also if I ever sold it I did not want to go thur explanations. Don

More reason to be skeptical. Supposedly has a numbers matching M22. However, the M22 was only available with the L72. Who knows how this car really started out in life.

There is also an extra mark in the engine stamp on the left side and a couple of strange depressions. It does not look original to me.

I think the "TIII6IL" is bad also. It looks like the last three digits are restamped. ("6IL") They have been hit harder then the first part. Also great point about the M22 transmission. (15 units, Yes, but all in the L72 cars!!)

You guys are gonna love this. I sent a message to the seller that his numbers matching M22 could never have come with this car. I had to laugh at the response. Yeah, a one of kind restamp! Ha!

"I don't claim to be a corvette expert but when I had the car professionally appraised was informed that the VIN on the transmission was authentic. This car may truly be one of a kind. Thanks for your interest.

                        Ben"

                          Regarding the earlier comment...
" I think the "TIII6IL" is bad also. It looks like the last three digits are restamped. ("6IL") They have been hit harder then the first part. "

My limited understanding is that the final digits were in fact stamped seperately - so this is not an indicator of restamp (in fact may support authenticity).

Key Keith - we still need to get out for a cruise one of these days.

The last three digits were not stamped separately.
