53 project car at Carlisle

Did anyone see it or know if it sold. It was sitting about half way down the first row from gate 1. I only Glanced at it. The price:$85000.00 WOW! The longg haired baseball cap chubby kid from Kentucky claimed it had the original block. Whatever. The body on the pass. side had a hood surround repair with cloth. Looked like a typical old nasty project car. Thanks!

some of the stuff i see dragged to carlisle the owner must be on drugs or just wants to get away from his wife and he needed a excuse.

the 53 at carlisle belongs to jerry brewster from La. jerry was real actrive in early corvette parts and car sales in late 60's and thru 70's. don't know if it sold or not. at 85K and probably another 60K to restore, didn't seem like bargain to me. mike

Serial number 148, as I recall. Was on ebay several weeks ago. Plenty tired!!!

I got the impression, perhaps incorrectly, that the car now belongs to someone else. Perhaps someone is selling for Mr. Brewster. My idea came from looking at the car on e-bay.

I asked the younger person tending the car "Is this one of Jerry Brewster's cars?" and he said yes.

I saw that car being driven on Saturday. Now that's what I call a "Survivor"!! Valves were tapping loudly and it smoked a bit, but it ran.

Wow! I'm surprised that car would even start, let alone move. I noticed it didn't have the correct truck lid. But hey, another $100,000 and you've got a driver.

The pretty complete & original '54 not far away from that one for $40K seemed like a steal compared to that "1953".
