both left and right sides have broken support brackets (frames) and both assemblies have drop below the nose about 3/8 inch. I would like to know if the can pass out the bottom of the car or do I have to take the front bumper assembly off. Also has anyone tried to repair the frames?? I see their hard to find and expensive.I have the facilites to weld most metals including aluminum, die cast & pot metal but I not sure what their made of.

Re: 1981 headlight support brackets
Buz,
Don't know if this is going to help you anu, but here goes.
I recently purchased a 73-74 Corvette upper nose section with the
complete headlight assemblies, supports, etc., still intact.
I believe the mount brackets are the same as yours. I just
looked at the brackets, it has a couple of the ends where they bolt
to the header support broken also. But, I noticed one othe other one
has been repaired before by I believe TIG welding. It looks like the
welding wire used is aluminum, so I would say the are most likely cast
aluminum. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else can verify this.
