    '67 heat shield p/n - Joe L?

Joe - Would appreciate what p/n is for '67 SB non-air heat shield.

I see one offered as p/n 3831682, which does not correspond to what I find in the AIM (p/n 3900365).

    Thanks, Joe.

    Joe's on vacation

I spoke with Joe extensively at Carlisle, and asked if he had cyber access while in New England. He explained that his relatives have computers, but said he is on vacation - aka holiday, R&R, etc. Lobster, clams and good New England seafood are the current priority. He does not returm to the left coast until after labor day.

      '67 heat shield p/n

      Tom,

According to the '66 AIM, the e-bay item is the correct battery heat shield for '66. The part number is actually 3831632, at least that's what it looks like in the '66 AIM and that's what it looks like on the sticker in the e-bay photo.

        Re: '67 heat shield p/n - Joe L?

        Tom,

Sure hope Joe returns soon, I don't like being a part number guy. Lotta work!! Anyway, the 3831682 is a battery heat shield for 63-66. Your 67 requires a different design shield, part number 3900365. The two are not interchangeable.

Re: '67 heat shield p/n resolution

Thanks a lot, guys. I had a hunch when my '67 AIM p/n and the ebay p/n didn't match, I figured the ebay was wrong.

By the way, the AIM has a page revision for the battery and heat shield dated 30 March '67, four months after mine was built (29 Nov. '66).

I frankly do not remember a heat shield....ever. Could it be "early" cars like mine never had one? If it did, then it's back to mom's garage to poke around the work bench area. I'm still looking for the spare tire lock...it's there somewhere.

          Thanks, again.

Re: '67 heat shield p/n resolution

Not sure on this Tom. Does the revision mention "part added", down below in the stats box? At a guess, I would say the heat shield was a part that was released for "start of production" and then went through some change in March.

Re: '67 heat shield - "part added"?

Mike - I don't have AIM here right now, but that's a good idea to look for "part added". I'll check it more thoroughly later and advise.

The 3900365 shield was released for start of production, and never changed; the March 30th revision was a drawing change to remove a washer.

                    What a gentleman he is!

                    Gentlemen and Ladies

Joe never fails to amaze me. I have encouraged him to dispose of his cache for his own personal benefit, and he will not. He has very altruistic values and I do treasure him as a friend and old customer, even though we only recently got to know each other better and face to face.

I have no wants or needs, and would like to see him enjoy himself even more. I could not give him a Heineken or even a Popsicle, yet he twice treated me to Dukes Smokies with Pepper and Onions based upon his recommendation. It had actually been decades since I had last tried them.

Joe is a Corvette Ambassador without a portfolio or motive. After he won the Presidents award, I congratulated him and told him, they have set a very high standard for members achievements.

There are many fine folk I have me in this hobby / business and Carlisle is the ideal place to share and meet them. I had a great weekend and have no complaints.

PS I have even met some folks parents. Patrick Hulsts father Cal is another fine person whom we had the pleasure of entertaining again. Too bad Patrick did not pay attention when ...

-------My memory says that the 67 battery heat shield actually was not attached to the battery box in any way. The shield had a sort of spring clip area on one side and also was captured by the battery itself on the bottom............Bill S
