Katrina, Kenner, LA & NCRS convention

I looked at MapQuest and it appears that Kenner is in the midst of the recent flooding in Louisiana and elsewhere, It looks like this will also impact the 2006 national convention. An inconvenience for us, but a genuine horrible natural disaster for many, many others. Very sad.

I dont think we should have any problems at Kenner by then. unless we get another one at that time.

      Your kidding ... right ???

IF New Orleans EVER returns to normal, it will take years, not months.

Mapquest shows 13 miles / 18 minutes from New Orleans to Kenner.

In the context of flooding, evacuation, civil services, inside/outside levee system, hurricane impact, etc. I'm pretty sure you can consider Kenner as part of New Orleans.

Hmmm, sitting in the hotel on a business trip and watching Fox News and CNN, and I doubt that New Orleans or its surroundings will be normal for many, many months.

            It is a sad situation.

I hope all our friends in LA are safe

We should be praying for the people we know, and those we don't, down there. It is a disperate situation.
I noticed Thad LaJeune posting earlier. I believe he is from LA.
I hope they are all safe.

FYI - David Lefeaux the LA Chapter Chairman and James Youens have advised that most of the LA Chapter members have been heard from and are safe and sound. Gary #5895....

                    Thanks Gary

Thanks for the relief news Gary. We sat through 3 hurricanes last year here in the Orlando area. Punta Gorda was hit the hardest. But, New Orleans ... maybe we should consider the area Atlantas II and establish a new city out of the hole. Those people need all the help we can offer.

                      Re: Thanks Gary

Apparently some are not familiar with their geography. As stated there is only 13 miles between Kenner and "The Big Easy". All that separates them is a lake. From what I have seen on the news Kenner took a very hard hit also. They are talking about at least two years for New Orleans to recover and I would expect that Kenner would take at least as long.

The main thing that we need to do right now is to keep all those people in our thoughts and prayers. America has never endured a disaster of this magnitude in modern history

David, James, and myself or from South Central La. Here in Eunice it was a wall of clear sky that seperated some of us from the terrible weather. Many of our friends from NO will be in terrible shape, who cares about an old vette, when your home and Job are gone! And yes, alot of nice cars are probably under water now. Pray to the good Lord that all our friends get through this OK. Havent heard from friends, John Majorie or Randy Hebert or Felix Famularo etc-etc. Thad LeJeune

Should not post when 4/3's asleep. Kenner is next to Lake Ponchatrain not across it.

Keep praying for the people on the Gulf Coast.
